Vray Material Library For 3ds Max 2009 Free Download

Firstly, it's 3dsmax.mat not 3ds.mat which may be relevant. Is this an install fron DVD or from the downloaded trial? If it's the trial then (AFAIK) there is no default library supplied, or if it is many of the materials will not work work correctly because of many bitmaps not being supplied (the download is big enough as it is).Either way, check both the materiallibraries folder and also the materiallibraries folder associated with the the current project (Customise Configure User Paths - the project folder is set in there). If you installed Max2009 Design, it is configured differently to Max9. Design uses Mental Ray (and therefore MR / A&D materials) by default, Max9 used the Scanline renderer and standard materials, which (along with other differences in the default settings) will probably explain why your Max9 materials aren't working. Look specifically for 'use real world scale' in the Material and 'Real world map size' in the object (primitives) and/or any UVW modifiers.

It seems that It doesn't like my 3ds max materials except for 'ground water', 'lava crust', and few other odd ones. It doesn't have anything other than the arch maps.

The bitmaps and things are all blank too. I checked every were on the cd and tried replacing the user interface paths so they looked at my 3ds max 9 stuff. The cd should be fine I just think 3ds max hates me.

Had this same problem with 3ds max 9. But it I magically got it to work. And of course I don't remember how. I think its a different problem unfortunately for this though.

O well thanks for the help anyway. I'll probably just get my money back and keep using 9.

All I wanted 2009 for was the mr sky portal, which I really need. And the improved rendering speed. You should get (I think) 30 days free support to cover installation issues.

Hmmm I'm surprised no one else was able to answer this. The solution is pretty simple. I upgraded to 2009 from version 8 a few minutes ago and my default installation contained the same problems faced here. Two things:1: Autodesk decided that now some of the common files will be contained in the Documents and Settings folder, typically:C:Documents and SettingsYOURUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataAutodesk3dsmax2009 - 32bitenuUIAs a result, max isn't always starting out in the proper folders when you are looking for files like mat files, UI files, etc. So the mat files are probably actually located in your 3ds Max installation folder in the materiallibraries folder while the program is looking for them in the Windows Applications Data area.2: The new Pro Materials that are provided with Max 2009 only work with the Mental Ray renderer. If you don't have the Mental Ray renderer activated they won't even show up in the viewport and will only render in black or a solid color. To activate it do the following:a.

Go to the Rendering menu and select Render, the top selection. That will open the Render Setup window that you're probably very familiar with already.b. Click the Common tab at the top of the window.c. Scroll all the way down. You should see a rollout called Assign Rendererd. Click the + symbol on the left of the Assign Renderer rollout bar.e. Click the button labeled '.'

Next to the Production renderer selection.f. Pick Mental Ray in the Choose Renderer window and click OK.If that doesn't work you got something wrong with your installation or you're using bad source media for your installation.Anyway, i hope someone gets help from this because I had to register on the site just to respond.
