Tomtom Go 720 Free Map Update
Dhl, OK, I just dont get it.you create a text file (use notepad) called supportasr.dat that contains JUST the number 1. No other spaces, carriage returns or anything.Place this file in your ASR folder on the unit.OK, Where do I create this file? Create a folder? I cant find a ASR Folder?

I did somehow get to notepad and typed what you said, then had no idea where to put it.What do you mean when you say on the unit? How.I am fairly computer literate, butPlease help the computer challanged!!!Thanks a lot!Brennan. Thanks but can you confirm for me the order in which I should do this? In other words, I have 7.05 maps currently. I read your post re: your trouble installing 7.1. Is this the first step? Then copy the file to the ASR directory on the 720?

I am dreading talking to tech support tomorrow, for fear of the canned 'this is not supported' or 'we don't know anything about this' answers. If you can confirm what you did to get this to work, in the exact steps, I'd be mighty grateful.

Oh, and if you're going outside tonight in downtown T.O., wear HIGH boots. The slush is unbelievable.:). My first post. I just bought a 720. I have tried doing the support file but with no luck. Do I create the file like this?
I have tried everything I can think of. Im also not sure if I have the right versions. When I have the 720 undocked and check what versions I have here is what it says. App.7.221 Map NAM v710.1584. When its docked and I go to TTH2 and check the version online it says I have 7.220. So maybe it doesnt recgonize the new version? Any help will be greatly apprteciated.Thanks.Blake.
Chelseafn, my does the same thing. Undocked is says 7.1The file is supportasr.datThen open the file and put a 1 in the file. Nothing else and no spaces. Then put the file in the ASR folder. The biggest problem I had was finding where and how to get to the file. With the tomtom docked and on, go to my computer and check on the tomtom where ever it is plugged into at.Hope this helps. When I've created supportasr.dat file using notepad, I've got filesupportasr.dat.txt An extra txt stands for native notepad extension. Now the question - should I remove this txt from file name? Thanks to everyone.
